Dog Day in San Diego!

We spent most of the day in San Diego today.  It's a 2 hour drive from El Centro to San Diego so we decided to take the dogs to the Ocean Beach Dog Beach right across the channel from SeaWorld.  We left about 11 a.m. and came back home by 6 p.m.
First, we stopped off at Rosie's Calico Cupboard located at 7151 El Cajon Blvd in San Diego on the La Mesa border.  It's a HUGE shop that takes up over half of the strip mall where it is located.  Each room houses a different fabric or room of items such as the tools, books and magazines, sale fabric, reproduction fabric, etc.  I was looking specifically for some red 30's print for my 30's Double Wedding Ring border but there wasn't anything that was right.  I'll just have to order online.
However, I did find some new Twister templates - the Twister, the Midi Twister, the Lil Twister and Primitive Pinwheel Twister (but I didn't get the teeny one...too small for me), a key chain fob pattern called Fobio, Karen Kay Buckleys Perfect Circle templates, a pack of Schmetz Microtex Sharp Needles and a spool of brown thread.  Successful day despite no 30's fabric to my liking.
Next, we went the 8 miles to the beach at Ocean Beach.  That's a fun, yuppy part of town is beach bums, surfers and the dog beach.  It was a super huge beach park with lots of dogs.  The beach is rectangular with the ocean to the west and he channel to Mission Bay to the north.  Since it was Coco and Chanel's first time to a beach, we decided to take them to the channel side for a good experience.
Heading to the Channel
Here's a cute video of them as they romped over to the channel side with Scott.
However, a big old golden retriever that she was breakfast and chased her all over the place.  The poor thing was scared to death and it took 3 of us to get the dog away from her.
The golden is behind Scott that chased poor Chanel to death.

After that, Chanel never left Scott's side.  Poor baby.  But, the girls had fun running up and down the beach.  Roxy always had to have her nose in the sea kept that washed to shore...that's Roxy...a busy body.  Coco was just happy to run and prance around.  Check out their cute videos here:

To our benefit, Nati's Mexican Restaurant, the best on in San Diego, was just a few shorts blocks away so we stopped for dinner.  We decided to eat outside on the patio since the dogs were just over the fence in the car and we could keep an eye on them.  It was quite windy and cool with the ocean breeze and I had to go back to the car for my light jacket.
Best Restaurant Award in San Diego since 2009!
Scott had the sour cream enchiladas and a chili relleno - both their signature dishes and I had the fish taco and chili relleno.  And, I splurged and had a virgin pina colada just because it was Nati's.  Yum!
One super yummy Pina Colada!

Before too long we were crusin' back down the freeway in Interstate 8 and arrived home just as the sun went down but not before I took a few photos of some pretty plants.

We had talked about going to Julian for the day today.  If we had, we would have ran into the Drivin' and Vibin' guys - Kyle and Olivia.  We're always somewhere close to where they are but never on the same day.
We had a great time at the beach...so long until another day.
We did get a chance to head to the pool and hot tub tonight after we returned home for a bit of warming up.  It was a chilly day at the beach with 68 degree weather and sea breezes.

Well, off to bed.  Until another adventure...
