Stuck in San Antonio...For Now

We woke up at 6:30 am to get a good head start on our long drive today and at 7 am Mother Nature decided she had a different idea...she threw a massive storm in our path with the brunt of it right over our RV.  We've been watching the path on the Internet and iPhone and fear we may be stuck here all day and not be able to get to our destination tonight.  If we can get out of here by 10 am, we may still make it before nightfall, but who knows how long this will last....Here's the weather now at 7:15 am.
We had some water issues (possibly from the installation of our Internet on the roof) when we hit two other rain showers previously and rain came pouring in through some gap.  Since we were inside, we decided to investigate and found a major leak coming in where all the electrical cords meet.  Once it calms down, we'll get some self leveling caulk and try caulking from the inside...not the best fix, but the best we can do for now.

While we were checking the water leak, the sirens went off here at the park and I worried for a second there was a tornado, but Scott checked the phone and said it was flash flood warnings. With the hard soil here, they get flooding quite easily.  When we went through the storm a couple of days ago the water quickly pooled up along the freeway so these siren threats are the real deal.

I just checked the status again and now it's supposed to calm down here about 11 am.  Problem is that we think the storm is heading east, so we'll be going with it.  Scott thinks it's best to stay here for day, patch the leak and leave tomorrow.  I'm sure doing some work is also on his mind.  Decisions, decisions. I'm concerned that we have to be in South Mills, NC by the 11th and there is still so much I wanted to see. Weather at 7:45 am.

Crazy hard rain, thunder storms and lightening
Looked again on the phoneIt looks like we'll be dodging storms from now until we get to South Mills.  Our route is dry...we just have to patch the leak first.  We were going Houston up into Louisiana and straight over to Jackson then down to Savannah.  Hmmm.
I guess the kids are lucky and will be sleeping in today...at least while this storm rages on...I don't know how they can sleep with all this thunder and lightening.

11:32 am UPDATE
Units on the left of us.
Well, it's still raining cats and dogs. Many people are leaving and probably heading west to get out of the storm.  The units to the left and to the right are underwater but we're still on high ground...for now. Scott went down to the office and paid for another night.  Better safe than sorry.  We actually saved $15 because they had Good Sam discounts and other discounts when before they said they didn't have any.
Units close by us.
Our back end
Units on the right down a bit.
Oh no!  I just updated and we just got some more thunder and a good lightening strike. Sheez!  But, on a good note, I just checked the forcast and we can leave anytime after 4 am when the precipitation is at 15%.  Goes up to 25% by 8 am.  So, we need to start breaking camp when we get breaks in the weather today.

Scott just came back from getting the laundry (we decided to do something constructive), and he said we have the highest spot in the park.  He said some of the units are 8" - 12" underwater!  I guess I shouldn't complain about being so far out in the boonies at this park anymore.

The kids woke up about 45 minutes ago and are watching Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azcaban. They forgot to watch that one when we did our marathon.

12:15 UPDATE
Scott went on the roof of the RV to see if he could cover the leak. He found it and now the dripping inside has stopped. We've filled at least a gallon of water or more of drippage. It is where they drilled in to put the wires.  Now, we're worried rain has gone down the sides of the coach.  Hopefully, the southern heat will dry it out quickly if it has.  I'm not happy with Camping World for their shoddy workmanship.

4:48 UPDATE
Read a little bit in my book the Heiress of Winterwood and then took a nap.  When I woke up Scott said the storm was so bad in San Antonio that cars were swept off the freeways. It's a good thing we stayed.  The sun is now out and it's party cloudy. I'd like to leave now, but Scott has to finish work, the caulk has to dry and we've already paid for a night here.  Uggh.  I HATE just sitting.  That will mean I won't be able to do some of my sightseeing.  I'm disappointed.

Went to dinner tonight at Golden Corral just around the bend from our park.  These photos capture our time with Hunter to a tee...notice that he NEVER stops talking!

And then went to take a couple more mission photos and then took the kids for a dip in the pool.

Tomorrow we're on the road again...
