MacMillen RV Park - Fort Davis, Texas

We arrived at MacMillen RV Park in Fort Davis about 5:30 pm today.  Fort Davis is a very pretty town nestled in the mountains, BUT a considerable distance off I-10, so if you come this way, be aware of that.  We did have a time change so we lost an hour of driving time so we missed the visitor's center at our next stop, Fort Davis National Historic Site and we need a bit of time to rest up.  We wanted to pick up the kids Junior Ranger books before we come tomorrow.  I've actually spend the whole time updating the blog...4 hours of typing.  Everyone is asleep. So much for me resting.

We decided to stay at MacMillen RV Park here in Fort Davis.  There was one other RV park but it only had 2 stars and I was in no mood to be miserable.  This one had a 4.2 star rating out of 5 so I was hoping for the best.  From what I've seen, I'd give this may be a 2.5 out of 5 so if the other place was a 2, I wonder what it was like.

Main Office Area
This park has nice wide spots - all pull through. There's about 40 spaces total.  Hardly any shade and what they call grass is actually crab grass (I initially typed "crap" grass. LOL!  I guess that's what the purpose is).  We picked the most green one (we arrived after the owners were gone for the night so they told us to take our pick of what was available).  Each site does have a picnic table (our is cracked on the edges).  And, each site has a nice wooden pergola type awning for shade.
Our site, #24
Gravel pad, grassy...kind of with native plants dotting the gravel.
Crab grass for the girls.
I haven't been in the office yet as they were closed but I'll check it out later on.  There is a laundry on site with 2 washers and 2 dryers and a folding table.  That's it.
The single washer and dryer are only for the management.

BBQ Area
There is also a bathroom with 2 female showers and 2 male showers.  Each unit has a toilet, sink, very large quarter circle shower with a chair.  It's a nice size done in Spanish tile.  Cierra thought it was hideous until we pointed out to her that this is the southwest and the style of things here.

Well, I'm off for a good night sleep...I need it!  Tomorrow we'll be at Fort Davis National Historic Site where they do have a Junior Ranger Program and then a 6-7 hour drive to San Antonio.
