Pipestone RV Campground is located right across the street from Pipestone National Monument and Fort Pipestone (a full-size fort replica) - a very convenient place to be. It's also only about 1/2 to 1 mile from downtown so it's each walking distance to many things. PRC was once a KOA as you can tell by the Tee-pee design of their building. The main office was fairly well kept which housed a sitting area, brochures, a mini-store and the registration area. The grounds were very nice.
The campgrounds themselves were superb. Every site was grassy and with either a grass pad or gravel pad. Nice spacing between units for the most part. Some parts of the park are for year-round guests but the most is for regular travelers. Here's our rig and where we were. We were in Unit 46. Every site had their own fire pit.
Now, the rest of the place is pretty much a dump! On the back side of the registration area is the restrooms and laundry. The ladies shower and bathroom hasn't seen a coat of paint in many years and was disgusting.
The laundry area was the grossest part of the park with no ceiling tiles and was the first thing I noticed when I walked in the room! And again, just an overall disgusting feeling which was ironic considering it's the room to do your laundry.
There is ample play areas - children playground and basketball area (next to the dumpy cabin), a pool - that was locked off, an pee-wee golf that you have to pay $2 to play.
Speaking of Fort Pipestone, it's a cute enclosed old fort - a fun place for kids to explore that has a fabulous gift shop with gobs of Native American stuff, Minnetonka moccasins and lots of small Pipestone pipes!
And this last photo is of a huge pipestone right before you come to Fort Pipestone and Pipestone RV Campground.
