Farewell Downtown Rapid City

Yesterday, we walked the streets of Downtown Rapid City with the girls.  We still marvel at what a clean, easy town this is.  The downtown has the most wonderful shops and I love the Main Street Square with the cascading waterfalls, where people gather under the covered patio tables for picnics, kids play in the water and music artists play tunes.  It's such a fun place.  The dogs LOVED being there and getting petted by all sorts of people. Roxy really got the royal treatment!
Also along the two main streets, St. Joseph Street and Main Street, trash receptacles are on every corner as well as a President of the United States done in bronze.  It's fun to go to a corner and see who claims that spot.
On the corners of 10 square blocks are Presidents of the US done in bronze.  At St. Joseph Street and 6th Street is George Washington, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter and Andrew Johnson.  There is even a storefront just for the Presidents and map to their locations and an interactive walking guide!!

Also, along these city streets, you'll find plants and welcoming storefronts.  It's such a peaceful place to be and business is thriving for the most part.  There are two or three shops available but people are always downtown.  There are some great places to eat - Tally's Silver Spoon and Que Pasa Cantina just to name a few.
On the corner of Main and 6th is the two Native American statues next to Prairie Edge.  I have repeatedly returned to Prairie Edge to see all the Native American goodies.  Prairie Edge is right across the street from Main Street Square.  Photos here are of the Buffalo Room - I neglected to post photos of this area of the shop last week because people were all over but I had the room to myself yesterday.  I wish I had $1700 so I could buy Fritz, my Tanaka.  But, alas, I don't have it.

And, I wanted to show more of the Ledger Paintings.  I think they are just wonderful.  I love the Native American theme on old 1800s ledgers and painted with a modern edge.  These are by a couple different artists.
Tonight, we went back downtown for one last walk and had dinner at Tally's Silver Spoon - an upscale, contemporary setting offering modern food cuisine.  I had the Duck Duck Wonton and Scott had the Blue Cheese Burger.  Here's their menu.  I appreciate how the food has been reinvented.  It was delicious!  Scott had two bites of his burger down before I even finished taking photos!  They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner!  So yummy!
Again, we walked over to Prairie Edge one last time, as well as Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for a caramel apple and also to the Spice and Tea Exchange where Scott bought some exotic spices for cooking.  Downtown is just a great place to mingle and gather.  We are really going to miss Rapid City.  We've enjoyed it thoroughly and can't find fault with anything here.  The area is beautiful, the city itself is clean and as a matter-of-fact, the whole area is very, very clean.  The highways aren't crowded even at the busy time of day.  It's just a great place to be.  I've venture to say it's one of the country hidden gems.  But, shhhh.  Don't tell anyone!
