Peelman Family Dinner and Swim

Once we left Lumberton right at check out time on June 24th, we drove up toward Elizabeth City.  Our next stop would be at the North River Campground - the same location we stayed at last year and the same unit, #14 so I won't be blogging on the location.  If you're interested, you can click the link above.  The only problem for us this year is that the Wi-fi and Internet is SO SLOW because we are so close to the Outer Banks and out in the middle of nowhere, that it's barely workable and it almost created an issue for Scott, but we used his booster.  The problem for me was that the upload and download speed was nearly non-existent, so I got very behind on the blog and that's why I'm just now able to catch up...and that will take a bit.

Once we got, set up, Lisa, Josh and the kids came over for a hamburger dinner with chips and strawberries and swimming.  Of course, Josh loves to fish and so he spent the majority of his time fishing at the catch and release lake there at the campground.
Hunter loved his harmonica we gave him...
...but Cierra wasn't impressed!
After eating, we all sat around chatting and then headed over to the pool for the kids to take a dip in the pool.
As we were leaving we spotted a mother bird - I have no idea what kind it was - but it was black and white stripped who was sitting on three eggs.  She was NOT happy we were there.
Soon, the kids finished swimming and we headed back to the rig while Josh did some last minute fishing in the twilight.
I've always loved this campground.  We gave it a 9/10 last year and have changed our rating system to a 1-5.  Since it's a campground and you're supposed to be unplugged camping,  I'd give this location a 4.5/5 and since I don't have half stars, it's a 4.  The campground still have lake front (that's us), non-lake front, tent sites, motel rooms, apartments and cabins, so it's a nice, versatile campground.  We paid $45 per night on weekdays and $50 on weekends.  Once again, it was filled with bugs and mosquitoes.  Yuck.  But, this year, we also ran into a copper snake, so not fun.

We'll be spending the week here catching up with the grandkids and Lisa's family.
