Pony Express RV Resort

We've been at the 2017 doTERRA Convention here in Salt Lake City, Utah for the past couple of days.  We took the RV (along with a bunch of other doTERRA Wellness Advocates who own RVs) and are staying at the Pony Express RV Resort.  The other location many doTERRA RVers are staying at is the Salt Lake City KOA located at 1400 W North Temple - right across the street from the TRAX system into downtown.  We are located right off I-15 and Redwood Road approximately 4 miles from the TRAX station. The KOA is more convenient, but this park is very nice.
The resort is set up first of all as a gated community with a pass-code to enter the resort. This is great for those who are security conscience.
They also have REAL GRASS -- not yucky crabgrass that the girls have had to endure all summer long.  With the grass comes some lousy rules that you are not allow to put up doggie gates outside your unit, which is a huge let down so that dogs have to stay in the RV. So, then what's the purpose for grass? It's funny because they want the park to look nice but people who stay here on a more permanent time have all sort of junk outside their units, so why no doggie fence?
There is a very nice office / store / clubhouse / laundry area / showers / bathrooms / pool area in the main building as you first enter the park.
The office is very professionally done with two attendants and a couple guys who help you part and set your rig.
Inside the main area is also a very large store with food, candy, refrigerated and frozen items, RV supplies and t-shirts and knicknacks.
Down the hall from the office on the left is the rec room decked out with a lovely fireplace, full kitchen, table and chairs, pool table, foosball, TV, etc.  The park is very family oriented so this is a nice bonus room, especially if you have family who live close by.
Across from the rec room is a nice set up for brochures of the area and surrounding states since Idaho and Wyoming are very close in proximity.  They also offer free coffee all day long.  And, there's a cool mural on the wall of Southern Utah.
There are also two rows of showers and bathrooms in this building and there are an additional 3 shower and bath facilities around the rest of the park.
The pool is outside and behind the building - fenced in.   While the pool is not heated (even though they claim it is), which is a disappointment for an adult, the kiddos in the park loved it all the same.  A sofa machine is just around the corner from the pool.
The main building also housed the laundry room.  It is very unique in that there are 6 sets of washer and dryers together throughout the room so that your washer and dryer are connected as one unit so to speak.  They also have vending to purchase soaps and softeners plus a TV to relax and enjoy while you wait. And, folding tables on sit with cubbies to store you baskets while you wait for laundry to be completed.
The park is set up as city streets with speed bumps everywhere to keep the traffic speed down.  Everything is in pristine shape from the grounds to the streets.  On Row B (our row) there is also a small soccer area for kids.  There is also a giant chess board, basketball, horseshoes and children's playground area.  They also have bikes and walking trails.
There are 3 bath/shower outbuildings.  The bathrooms are very spacious and Scott said it's one of the very best bathroom he's ever used since we've been RVing.
White vinyl enclosed dumpster areas, adjacent to the bathrooms, re on a rolling system so it's very easy to open the gate, toss the trash and close the gate for aesthetic purposes.
The park has Resort status because they also have a few types of cabins and tent camping area.  There are 10 standard, deluxe and premium cabins on the west end of the park as well as 13 cottages on the east side of the park, next to an RV sales and service shop.
This is the map of the park with the legend.  Our unit was B-40.  8th space on the left on the full pink row.  Yellow are Standard Sites, Orange are Deluxe Sites, Blue are Deluxe Plus Sites, Pink are Premium Sites, and Green are the Executive Sites.  All the sites are quite narrow and you feel a bit like a sardine except for the Green sites which are a bit wider.  We are the Premium sites and I can practically reach across and touch my next door neighbors unit.  The units are extremely close together and almost feel like you are in an urban jungle. The trees are very young so there really isn't a whole lot of shade and seem to be in terrible locations for slide outs, awnings or to exit that park. They up front of the unit and brush up against the units. But each site has a picnic table.  And, a great feature to each site is that the pads are concrete AND there is a place for your vehicle next to your rig!

On the map near "Reserved Parking" just to the left is a dog park.  It's wire gates and very large with a small sprinkling of grass, which again, is disappointing for the dogs.  They roll around in the dirt and then your coach gets dirty...ask how I know!  But, the dogs enjoyed being able to run free.

While it's very clean and very pristine, it is restrictive especially to dog owners. They claim to be dog friendly, but I saw no evidence of this except for a dog park and the girls are part of the family so I deducted from this aspect.  Even the dog part was not friendly with the dry, dirt that the girls rolled in and then tracked dirt back into the coach.  While it's a classy place, the units are just too close together for my taste.  These two things lower my ranking.

My rating for this resort would be 4/5 or a 8/10.
