West Glacier KOA

We arrived late to our West Glacier, Montana KOA Campground tonight because we went to Grant-Kohrs this afternoon.  But, WOW, this is the nicest campsite we have ever stayed at!!  As a matter-of-fact, I saw a sign that said that this KOA was the 2017 Best Campground of the Year and I can certainly see why!!  It was the extreme opposite of that last campground we stayed at!  We'll be here June 21-22, 2017.
President's Award Winner and with good reason!
2017 Campground of the Year
Main Office and General Store
Our unit at this campground was #181 in the Premium Sites.  We paid a hefty penny for this campground but the amenities were well worth it, especially spending some much needed quality time with our grandchildren.
KOA Map - We're located in the pink area on the right 3rd row, 3rd site from left.  Click the map to enlarge.
Without further ado, let me just show you in photos and captions how fabulous this park is!

First, let's start with our site:

This is our Montana looking.  Great, smooth gravel pad with a large grassy area.
Beautiful landscaping on all sides.
This was our premium site including professional landscaping with a slab patio area,
deluxe tiled picnic table, 6 comfortable chairs, retracting umbrella and professional BBQ grill.
Beautiful view of the mountains from every angle.
Lots of grass, cement, gravel, landscaping for privacy and a personal fire pit with seating for 4.

Next, let's take a look at the bath house next to our location.

Stunning decor and gorgeous landscaping nestled at the edge of the forest.
Petunias are in bloom all over the campground.
Private Shower Room
Clean Bathrooms
Now, let's take a look at the restaurants: Grub and the ice-cream shop, Scoops.  Grub offered breakfast and dinner dining.  Scoops is open from 4-9 pm.
The man on the far left wearing yellow, is a cook at the grill who prepares your protein to order: trout, steak, ribs.
Breakfast is from 7-11 am and includes beverages including steamers (my personal favorite), muffins, etc.
Scoops operator was a wonderful gentleman
who had a great supply of ice-cream including Huckleberry, a local favorite!

Here are a few photos of the office/general store and amenities close by.
I bought the gray & white baseball-style 3/4 sleeve shirt on the bottom rack.
There is also a good supply of Huckleberry items, too!
Besides fun things to buy, there is also a grocery store.
Behind the store is ice for campers.
There is also a dump station behind the store.
The firewood is stocked every day and available for purchase for $5.95.
Let's take a look at the fun activities West Glacier KOA has to offer:
There are two pools on the property.  This is a family pool with many lounge chairs and covered patio tables.
The kids love this pool with all the sprays that come from the deck.
And, this is the adult only pool area. It also has 2 hot tubs up the steps.
It's smaller but used by many adults without kids horsing around.
Many people bring their bikes and ride all over the park...
...it' BIG park, so there's a lot of hiking and biking trails close by.
There are numerous areas for corn hole.
Many families have tournaments that last for hours!
A large basketball court is by the pool and next to the playground.
The playground equipment and sand box.
This area is used for more corn hole tournaments, frisby, drones, etc.
There are beautiful walking paths throughout the entire park.
Walking trails - bikes not allowed.
A lovely water feature on the pathway.
We ate at Grubs our first night.  The cost was a bit pricey, but the meal was tasty.  There are young adults from assorted nationalities working the restaurant who scurry here and there trying to get your meals out as fast as possible.  The menu is basically 3-4 proteins: half Chicken, half or whole Rack of Ribs, Mountain Trout, or Steak.  Then you select two sides.  Dessert is cheesecake with Huckleberry sauce.  Yum!
Scott helping the kids get their meal sorted out.
The Huckleberry Cheesecake with a hit!
Eating every last bite.
The kids also really enjoyed their time at the pool, too.
Cierra jumped in first!
Cierra and Hunter are have a ton of fun!
Grandpa Scott relaxing poolside.
Later on both night we were at the KOA, we all enjoyed a good time around the first eating marshmallow and S'Mores.
Roasting Marshmallows
Enjoying the evening fire together.
As you can plainly see, this is a fabulous park.  While there are a large amount of people, I think the people make the park fun and energetic.  I'm not one for crowds, but I think that's what really makes this park fun.  There's always something to do and fun people to meet.

Amenities at the park include:
  • Fenced Dog Park
  • Bird Sanctuary
  • Hiking Trail
  • Boat Storage and Extra Parking
  • Lodge
  • Laundry Facilities
  • Bath and Restroom House
  • 2 Pools

  • Playground
  • Store
  • Gift Shop
  • Restaurant

My rating for this park is 10/10.  It's a real winner and you won't be disappointed!  Check click on the link for the site that best suits your need and the pricing will be listed.  Due to the many types of sites, it's just a matter of personal preference, but I can tell you that you and your family will LOVE every minute of this campground and make wonderful memories together.
