Holiday Park Campground - 5 Stars!

July 22nd we left Holland, Michigan and headed 2.5 hours north to Traverse City and Holiday Park Campground for the night.  Michigan is a beautiful state.  Farmland was in the southern area and we are now getting into gorgeous tree everywhere.  We had met a guy in El Centro, California that was from Traverse City and he was telling me of all the fun things there is to do including Sleeping Bear Dunes.  That was on my list, but I wished we were in town longer to do more of the things on his list.
Here's where we checked in and the registration and camp store...one of the cleanest places on the trip.
We first arrived at Holiday Park Campground and WOW, what a cool place to be.  There are 8 sections to this place divided into Lake, Woods, West Circle, Ridge and Island spots.  Silver Lake is adjacent to the campground as well as Wetlands.  Some of the sites are on an inlet of Silver Lake.  Other sites are looking off into the lake in the wooded area.  More sites are against the wetlands and others, like us, were on the Ridge.  There are 224 sites at this park, but everything is so spread out that is a very enjoyable place to be.  Prices for the park are depends on which area of the park you stay in ranging for $56-67 per night.  The West Circle and Ridge offer monthly rates, while the other sites are nightly.  Off summer season, the sites are $40 per night.  There is even a boat launch area and an area for boat and trailer parking for those bringing water toys.  It is also a Michigan Airstreamers Park and we did see quite a few of them.  Most of the Island, Lake and Woods sites were filled with flowers while the West Circle and Ridge were a newer part of the park.
Amenities of this campground are:

  • Pull Through
  • Back In
  • Full Hookups
  • Wifi
  • Cable
  • Dump Station
  • Shade Trees all but the Ridge and West Circle - those are growing
  • Grass
  • Picnic Tables
  • 4 Bath Houses
  • 1 Laundry House (you have to drive to get to this unless your in the Woods section)
  • Propane
  • National Monument close by
  • Bike Path
  • Boating Activities
  • Sandy Beach Access
  • Sand Volleyball
  • 2 Basketball courts
  • 2 Horseshoe areas
  • 7 Playgrounds
  • Camp Store

Here are some photos of this place in some of the other areas but ours.  We LOVED it!  Very woodsy, clean and a friendly place.  It was rainy off and on while we were here and the morning I took these photos it was raining lightly, so they may be a little bit dark but you'll see how lovely this campground was.
Here is our rig and some photos of the amenities near us.  You walked down a cute lane to get to the restrooms.  It's still a young area and not nearly as tree dense as the previous photos.
We paid $50.40 with tax including our Good Sam discount so it's a bit pricey but it's a wonderful park, clean and the manager are extremely friendly.  We gave this a 5-star rating.  My only wish was that the Ridge area where we were had trees, but the pull through was exceptionally long and wide.
