The Maiden Voyage - Canyon Springs RV Resort

This past weekend (June 16-17, 2017), we took our new Keystone Montana 3730FL on the maiden voyage to Boise, Idaho specifically to see our little granddaughter's ballet performance at the 85th annual Emmett Cherry Festival on June 17th.  She was such a cute little dancer at the performance and the Emmett Cherry Festival has quite the following!  There was a carnival that filled the entire city park with people, vendors and food!  Entertainment was constantly in supply and it also had a cute petting zoo and pony rides to top everything off.  I would have liked to stay longer, but after a 5 hour drive from Utah to Idaho we were both exhausted.  We bought a 25-foot flagpole for our RV which we'll get set up for the next trip.

We parked our 5th wheel at Unit 128 of Canyon Springs RV Resort in Caldwell, Idaho - a good 40 minutes drive from Emmett.  There was no vacancy at any other RV park anywhere in the area but we weren't disappointed with where we stayed.  We brought the girls and enjoyed a super clean facility right off the freeway but far enough away that it was enjoyable and you really didn't hear freeway noise except when it was very quiet in the wee morning hours.

Our Unit #128
The nightly rate was $45 but the resort did offer discounts for veterans and Good Sam members.

The park had a nice game center with a pool table, bass fishing (catch and release only), sandy beach, a playground for young ones, fire pit, and a basketball court.  There was a nicely enclosed dog run area next to the pond.  The park also offered 32 cable TV stations, but we were way to busy to watch any TV.

Our unit was a 60' pull through.  The only thing I didn't like was that the "grass" was Astroturf, not actual grass, so the girls couldn't really "use" the area and it was a pain to have to relieve themselves at the unleashed pet area way on the far side of the park or the designated potty areas located at the end units.  However, each site did have a nice round picnic tables.

The sites were quite narrow in my opinion and not very long or wide.  Our 40-foot Montana with our huge 350 Ram Dually made our unit quite tight.  Many trucks from other units stuck out making it hard to back-in or pull-thru to your unit.  We also had to duck when going from the unit to the truck because we were so tight.  I felt like I was often in a "concrete jungle" of RVs due to the lack of trees and shade.  Some of the pull-thru and back-in sites had gravel.  Ours was asphalt.  Many of the units by the pond had ample shade trees.  We were right near the middle of the red sections on the map below.  Also, while the picnic table was nice, it was also right next to the sewer of the unit next to us.

The office/clubhouse was very clean and the hosts were all very helpful and friendly.

Typical amenities were found at this site:
  • Water
  • Sewer
  • Restrooms
  • Showers
  • Laundry
  • Dumpster
  • Propane
  • 4 cottages
  • Beach
  • Fishing
  • Playground
  • Internet
  • Cable
You could select executive, premium, deluxe, lake front and pull-thru sites.  If I were to return, I would select site 116 pull-thru or 8, 9, 10 or 17 for back-in; and 18 for the executive.  These sites were shaded and/or grassy.  Site 116 was next to a large grassy area for the girls, which I would prefer just because I have dogs.
